C-IPM workshop on research in Integrated Pest Management

The ERA-Net Coordinated Research in Integrated Pest Management (C-IPM) was carried out from 2014 to 2017. A major outcome of C-IPM was the initiation of sixteen research projects. An overview of the status and (preliminary) results of these projects will be presented at an open workshop in Paris on 22 and 23 November 2018.

C-IPM focused on the challenge of responding to the mandatory implementation of the principles of integrated pest management (IPM) as called for by Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 on the sustainable use of pesticides. A major task in C-IPM was the preparation of a strategic research agenda for integrated pest management in Europe. This work was concluded in 2016 and described short, medium and long-term priorities for IPM research in Europe. The strategy identifies knowledge gaps and enables enhanced implementation of IPM, laying the groundwork for implementation of research. Bearing in mind the IPM knowledge gaps, C-IPM coordinated two joint transnational research calls, which resulted in the initiation of sixteen research projects in Europe.

The workshop in Paris on 22 and 23 November will present the results of the projects so far, and put them in the context of the C-IPM Strategic Research Agenda and the implementation of IPM in Europe at large. The workshop will include sessions on "IPM and minor uses", "Pest and disease monitoring for IPM", "Sustainability and integrated biocontrol", "Integrated weed management", and a presentation of Ecophyto II+.
