FACCE Surplus addresses stakeholders at European Biomass Conference and Exhibition

From May 27-30, the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) will take place in Lisbon, Portugal. The conference is aimed at biomass professionals through combining one of the largest science and technology meetings with a high quality industry exhibition. The FACCE Surplus ERA-NET will be present to address stakeholders from industry, policy makers and farmers.

The ERA-NETs’ projects in the first call will finish in 2019 and promising results and approaches have already been achieved, of which many are currently being further developed. The projects range from the development of heavy metals agromining to the optimization of farming strategies, such as agroforestry or crop rotations. Several focus on the development of models, pathways and options in order to reach Sustainable Intensification (SI) and to deliver UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Some address the photosynthesis performance and/or the resilience against stresses of food crops. Because the projects are near finalisation, now is deemed the time to address stakeholders in order to make further progress and to link research and policies, farming practices and socio-economical aspects.
