Workshop on Future-proofing Food Systems

The SCAR Strategic Working Group on Food Systems  (SCAR SWG FS) and the joint programming initiatives JPI HDHL (a Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life), FACCE-JPI (on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change), and JPI Oceans will organise an afternoon workshop on "Future-proofing Food Systems" in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, on 13 June 2018 as a side event of the FOOD2030 conference in Plovdiv which takes place from 14 to 15 June.

The objective of the workshop is to provide clear recommendations on how to move forward on sustainable food systems: to set the direction and to decide what the next steps are for future-proof food systems, in particular with a focus on the role of national Research & Innovation (R&I) funding bodies within the context of FOOD 2030. The workshop aims to build on the results of the SCAR Strategic Working Group and collaboration between the three JPI’s. Questions up for discussion are how to address identified R&I gaps and how to optimise the collaboration between the SCAR SWG FS and the JPI’s to promote the food system approach.
