Partnership on pandemics under consideration
The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) is a committee of the European Parliament. On April 24th, ITRE invited Commissioners Gabriel (Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth) and Commissioner Breton (Internal Market) for a digital exchange of views on the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Commissioner Gabriel, the European Commission is thinking about adding a new industrial research partnership on pandemic preparedness and societal resilience in the upcoming Horizon Europe programme. According to ScienceBusiness, the Commissioner said she has also asked all five mission boards to look at how the missions can contribute to the post-coronavirus economic recovery and to help prevent future pandemics.
