The Joint Programming Initiative on Neurodegenrative diseases has launched a new transnational call for linking pre-diagnosis disturbances of physiological systems to neurodegenerative diseases. Neurodegenerative diseases are debilitating and largely untreatable conditions that are strongly linked with age. Existing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases are limited in effect and mainly address the symptoms rather than the cause or the progressive course. With this in mind, the JPI has launched this transnational call. It invites proposals for ambitious, innovative, multinational and multidisciplinary collaborative research projects aimed at the detection, measurement and understanding of early disease indicators related to neurodegenerative diseases, with potential for the development of new diagnostics or interventions. Participating funding organisations from twenty-four countries including the Netherlands, have made a preliminary budget available of around EUR 19 million. The deadline for pre-proposal submission is the 2nd of March, full proposal submission is the 29th of June.
More information, including the call documents, is available on the JPND website.
